There is an effort at the federal level… APNewsBreak: Effort Building to Significantly Change United States Cannabis Laws
Spearheaded by by Rep. Jared Polis (D-Co) to Regulate Cannabis like Alcohol.
This could be a game changing bill that would provide many new jobs in an industry that has been illegal since before I was born.
The move to legalize Cannabis is coming from the overwhelming support at the national, public level as well as from the immense pressure created by states like Colorado and Washington that have already legalized Cannabis for general consumption and for industrial production. The science behind Cannabis Sativa (AKA: Marijuana, Pot, Dope, Weed, Mary Jane….) is shockingly proving that the current schedule 1 status of the plant is incredibly wrong. Many studies and patient testimonies have proven the viability of Cannabis for some forms of cancer reduction and as a cure for troubling symptoms often faced by those who have lost their appetite for various reasons the most commonly noted being after radiation treatment and patients being able to restore their apatite and reduce their stress. Cannabis has also been noted to have anti-depressant values as well thus there is medical evidence that the schedule 1 status that the plant currently holds is for financial purposes imposed by the creators of the law originally. Now that grassroots legalization efforts have become popular and our representatives are using the facts to defend Cannabis we may actually see legalization at the federal level. My fingers are crossed in hopes this bill passes.
